01 / PROFILE

BEYOND THE WANTED POSTER

Hero of the Marines.

Monkey D. Garp is a celebrated Marine vice admiral and Luffy's grandfather. His reputation rests on immense physical strength, formidable Haki, and a long career confronting powerful pirates. He prefers direct action to ceremony, while family ties and responsibility for younger recruits complicate an otherwise confident approach to service.

His warmth and institutional pride do not always align, giving the story a deeply personal way to examine duties that become impossible to satisfy together.

02 / THE TECHNIQUES

A signature all their own.

Armament Haki

Exceptional Haki reinforcement gives his unarmed strikes formidable strength and resilience.

Cannonball throwing

He launches cannonballs by hand with remarkable force instead of using artillery.

Galaxy Impact

A powerful Haki-infused punch releases a sweeping shock wave from above.

03 / THE JOURNEY

Moments that matter.

An unconventional instructor

His work with young Marine recruits reveals a demanding mentor whose habits are far less formal than his reputation.

A familiar laugh

A visit to Water Seven brings a celebrated Marine into unexpectedly personal contact with the Straw Hats and their captain.

03STORY SPOILERThe next generation

On Hachinosu, Garp helps secure the younger Marines' escape and remains behind, placing their future ahead of his own safety.
